Borrowing the notorious gawky utterance from Ms. Ai-Ai de las Alas, allow me to exclaim, "This is really is it!".
Yes, you read it right, the City of Golden Friendship will soon have its very first high-rise building to stand right in the very premise of Limketkai commercial and business space. It is reported that Limketkai Sons, Inc. is also responsible for this promising project venture and thus holds most of the funds for the construction of this building as it is going to be a major start of their venturing to the hotel business.
This hotel will encompass a 21-storey building, 250-room hotel complex in the company’s 30-hectare commercial complex in Cagayan de Oro City’s Lapasan district.
While this ambitious project was still on its way to inception 'till to its on going construction at the very moment, some well known major hotels have already been tagged along CDO’s prestige. To name a few, these are Pryce Plaza, Dynasty Court, Grand City Hotel, and the incomparable Mallberry which also homes in the Limketkai vicinity, and not to mention Koresco Hotel which was built by Korean investors in the upland area of the metropolis--all of them consistently provide quality and first class accommodations to as many as 300,000 tourists annually visiting the city.
While it is also speculated that this soon to open skyscraper will vie with the Mallberry Suites business hotel, which is just juxtaposed to the Robinsons mall, Limketkai Sons, Inc. made it clear that the new hotel would be an addition to the existing hotel’s operations, thus paving the way to a healthy contrast of choices to businessmen as well as tourists. This hotel will then be the tallest structure in Mindanao, and will carry to its name a four-star classification. The hotel complex will have the customary amenities and facilities such as a grand ballroom, function rooms, coffee bars, and a swimming pool.
With this on going ambitious project, it just cues the start of a new revolution in construction here in CDO. Hopefully too, this phase begins CDO’s new competitive edge in terms of world-class infrastructures and industrialization, considering that the tallest building in Cagayan de Oro hasn’t gone over the 10-level limit.
The target opening date is said be happening sometime in the first quarter of 2012 and the exact name the hotel will carry is still yet to be announced. While there’s also a 30-storey City Center of a Korean Group that is upstaging, there is yet to be an official press release about its construction, perhaps planning. It’s area, however, is also included in the fenced construction site of the Limketkai’s 21-storey grand hotel.
